A Little Beginning

Hi, I’m Yasemin, the hands (and heart) behind Alexa & Rosie.

Rag Mischief began quietly, on a rainy evening in my sewing corner, a table scattered with fabric scraps, half-finished dolls, and a cup of tea gone cold. I’d been making toys for years, mostly soft and sweet, but that night I found myself wanting to create something with a little more character. Something imperfect, a bit mischievous, and full of soul.

From sketch to Stitch

It started with a few sketches, crooked smiles, sleepy eyes, and pockets that might hide secrets. Those first few dolls were my prototypes; my practice mischief. They taught me how each stitch could carry emotion, how paint could turn linen into personality, and how even a handmade imperfection could feel alive.

I kept those originals safely with me, as little reminders of where it began. Then I started again building a small first collection: Pinny, Hexie, and Wisp.

The Mischief Arrives

Each doll is stitched and painted by hand. Every one of them hides a secret story

tucked inside a message only revealed when you tap their NFC tag. It’s my way of weaving storytelling into the fabric itself, blending the warmth of craft with a touch of quiet magic.

“Every stitch has a story — every doll, a little mischief of her own.”

Meet the first three:

Pinny — keeper of pockets & tiny treasures

Hexie — dreamer of rooftops and stars

Wisp — soft glow after candlelight

They’re the first of what I hope will become a growing world of hand-stitched characters, each born from fabric, story, and imagination.

Why “Mischief”?

Because they’re not perfect dolls. They’re not meant to be. They have quirks, uneven smiles, wild threads, and painted hearts that wander slightly off-centre.

But that’s the beauty of them, they remind us that handmade things, like people, they are full of small rebellions. And Rag Mischief felt like the right name, a little trouble stitched with tenderness.

What’s Next

This is just the beginning. I’ll keep creating new characters in small, limited runs. Each with its own secret message and personality.

And for those of you who love crochet (my first love) don’t worry, new patterns & kits are coming soon too.

Thank you for being here, for following this journey, and for letting these tiny mischief-makers find their way into the world.

With love,

Yasemin
